From time immemorial men and women have sought a solution for hair loss. The answer lies not in lotions, shampoos or hair-pieces, but in the medical profession, where years of research have led to truly remarkable results. Before going into detail about how to restore your own natural, permanent, growing hair it is important to understand some basic facts.

The Problem

Male Pattern Baldness is a hereditary condition which results in premature hair loss. It usually commences in the late teens or early twenties and continues well into middle life. Affected hair gradually diminishes in caliber and length until eventually no hair at all may grow. Changes occur predictably beginning with temple recession and thinning at the crown.

"Hair Transplantation is the only method of hair restoration that utilizes the patient's own hair. The results are the most natural of all suggested methods and last virtually a lifetime."

The Solution

The success of hair transplantaton is based on the scientific fact that hair follicles at the back and sides of the scalp are genetically programmed to permanently retain the capacity to grow hair. These follicles, when transplanted to bald or thinning areas, take root and grow normal healthy permanent hair in their new location.

There are two basic hair restoration modalities - Hair Transplantation and Scalp Reduction. Hair transplantation is always required for the front whereas the top and back of the scalp are amenable to either hair transplantation or scalp reduction or both. All treatment is performed on an out-patient basis under local anesthesia. Hair Transplantation involves removing a narrow strip of permanent donor hair from the back of the scalp from which micrografts and minigrafts are fashioned. These are then transplanted to bald or thinning areas. The degree of sophistication and artistry with which the transplantation is accomplished determines the quality of the result.
